August 31st Games

August 31, 2008

Last Game in August!!! Tomorrow, the rosters can expand to the 40-man roster.  Most teams are expected to call up alot of guys, but I don’t think the Tigers will bring up the full 40-man.  They are currently in 4th place, and Jim Leyland has said time and time again that he won’t bring anyone up unless he knows that they will get playing time.

That said, why are they expected to bring Dontrelle Willis up from AAA?

Today’s Games Are:

  1. Toronto vs. NY Yankees
  2. Baltimore  vs. Tampa Bay
  3. Philadelphia vs. Chicago Cubs
  4. Seattle vs. Cleveland
  5. Chicago White Sox vs. Boston
  6. Kansas City vs. Detroit
  7. Milwaukee vs. Pittsburgh
  8. St. Louis vs. Houston
  9. Atlanta vs. Washington
  10. New York Mets vs. Florida
  11. San Francisco vs. Cincinnati
  12. Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona
  13. Minnesota vs. Oakland
  14. Texas vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
  15. Colorado vs. San Diego

What is up with Jim Leyland?

August 31, 2008

I’m currently watching the Kansas City/Detroit game, and during the 6th Inning, Jim Leyland made a trip out to the mound to talk to Kenny Rogers.  Rogers had just allowed a single, and the Bullpen had both Aquilino Lopez and Nate Robertson warming up.  I thought that Leyland was going to remove Rogers, but he left him in to pitch to Billy Butler, who had hit a deep home run to left-center field earlier in the game.

Of course, Rogers throws a Rogers-esque 85 mph faster at Butler’s knees, over the middle of the plate, and Butler golfs it out to left field for a 3-run home run.  Matt Joyce, the Tigers Left Fielder, could only look up at the ball sailing over his head.

I think that Jimmy has to have a talk with both Chuck Hernandez and his entire pitching staff to figure out how to get them out of their “jinx”.  Right now, Tigers pitching just sucks…..

I would like your thoughts and opinions on this….

Welcome!

August 30, 2008

I just want to welcome everyone to my new blog, part of my website at http://www.paulsilvestri.com.  I would just like to take a few moments to introduce myself and talk about what this blog will be about.

First, I am an 18-year old High School graduate currently attending college.  I’ve grown up as a HUGE Detroit Tigers fan, but have shared some of the love with the Boston Red Sox over the years.  I’ve attended over 200 games over my 18-year life, going to my first game at beloved Tiger Stadium in 1993, with my seats being behind the Tigers bullpen down the left field line.

The mission of this blog is simple:

  • Provide a daily report of what is happening within Major League Baseball and all of its teams
  • Give my personal analysis of games and statistics
  • Provide answers for questions regarding teams and managerial moves
  • Look for other educated opinions from fans for other teams

I’m working on writing both a “Comment Policy” and a “Privacy/Copyright Policy” for this site.  Those should be up in a few hours, along with recaps from games on August 30, 2008.

Feel free to leave comments!
